Sydni Helps Mommy Do "Lawry"

For a while now, Sydni has been fascinated with me doing the laundry. She always follows me in the laundry room and helps, but only today did she start saying it. So cute! I say "Want to help Mommy do the laundry?" and she says "Lawry." I had to post some pictures of her "helping" me below. Now, if only I could train her to cook and clean. =)

Nice action shot that DaDa took...his sock in mid-air as Sydni takes it out of the dryer.

Christmas 2009

Well, we had a blizzard in Oklahoma on Christmas Eve, so all plans were postponed. Not only that, but Sydni was not feeling well at all, so Scott took her to the doctor Christmas Eve morning while I was at work. Luckily, they got there before the roads got really bad....still bad, but not really bad. Turns out, Sydni had her first ear infection. This is the sickest that she has ever been. She would not eat or drink or play much. She got an antibiotic and seems to be on the mend.

We normally spend Christmas Eve with my family, but that was put on hold due to the 14 inches of snow that we received. No one could even get out of their driveways because of the large drifts. Scott, Sydni, and I spent a quiet evening at home (well, I say quiet, except for the grumpy Sydni, who was not her happy self due to the ear infection, cough, and snotty nose). We also spent Christmas Day with just the 3 of us and Sydni opened her presents from Santa. She was more interested in opening everyone elses presents that we had under the tree, so I had some patchwork to do.

We ended up getting to do our Christmas Eve celebration with my family the day after Christmas. It was a small gathering at my parent's house with my mom, stepdad, Marla, Haylee, Marlie, Chance, Scott, Sydni and me. It was nice with just the few of us. We actually had some time to visit instead of it being the normal craziness. We haven't gotten to do Christmas with Scott's family yet, since they couldn't get here because of the blizzard, but we will be celebrating with them next weekend. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

18 Month Stats

Sydni had her 18 month check-up on December 21st. She wasn't feeling well that day and had a bit of a fever, so we chose not to get her shots. Now, we get to go through the trauma of the doctor's office all over again on January 11th for the shots. Anyway, Sydni is doing well. She weighs 23 pounds, which is in the 30th percentile and she is 32 1/2 inches long, which is in the 70th percentile.

Genius Baby

Well, apparently Sydni is a genius child. =) Scott, Sydni and I went to Red Lobster this evening and we received compliments on her from two different parties, so I just have to brag on her. The first was an older gentleman who said "She is such a well-behaved child. You must be so proud of her." Then he went on to say that she acts better than most adults. I thought that was so sweet of him. Then, there were a couple of ladies sitting at another table and they just went on and on about how good she was and continued to say that she was a genius. I'm not sure where they got genius (even thought Scott and I know that she is), but it was cute. My heart swelled up with pride! Sydni was holding up her children's menu like it was a newspaper and was pretending to read it. The ladies said that she acts like a 12 year old. Too funny!

Way Behind on Blogging!!

I can't believe it has been over 5 months since I last blogged. Shame on me! I didn't even blog about Sydni's 1st birthday, which was June 19th. We had a simple little party with family. Sydni got lots of great presents, her favorite being a little pink cell phone from Aunt Marla, Uncle Les,and Cousins Haylee, Marlie and Chance. She wasn't much into opening her presents, so Chance helped her open a lot of them. She wouldn't even try her cake. We waited until the end to try the cake and she was really sleepy by then, so we saved her little cake for the next night when it was just Scott and me watching her. Still, she wouldn't try it!! This girl does not like cake. She decided to nap at her own party, so while she was napping we got out the Wii Fit and all played with it. Too bad I don't have pics of that to post....now that was funny!! Especially the hula hooping.

Sydni's First Birthday Party

Pictures of Sydni on her actual 1st Birthday. Scott and I both took the day off from work to spend it with her. We took her to the Paseo for some professional pics, then on to lunch at Iron Starr where Sydni got free ice cream. They didn't even know it was her birthday. The waiter just said that he liked her, so he brought her ice cream. Cute!

Sydni started her second session of Mother's Day Out in August and she LOVES her teachers. She cried the first couple of times when she was dropped off, but after that, she couldn't wait to go. She reaches for the teachers and blows Grams kisses when she drops her off. I am so glad that she loves it! Wish she could have these teachers forever.

For Halloween, Sydni dressed as a butterfly. It was a beautiful evening. We could not have asked for better trick-or-treating weather. Scott, Grams, Mimi, and I (oh and Aunt Tuffi, who is Grams' Miniature Yorkie) all took Sydni trick-or-treating in Grams neighborhood. Sydni absolutely had the best time. She would hold on to Mimi's fingers and walk and walk to all the houses, then once she got to the porches she would just plop down on her little tushy and wait for her candy. There were several houses that just set candy out on the porch and Sydni would dig in the bowls and grab a few handfuls....too bad we won't let her eat any of it. She doesn't mind though. She has just as much fun taking it in and out of her basket...still.

At 16 months little Sydni is still not walking on her own, but she is VERY close. She wants to walk all of the time while holding on to our fingers. She always brings us her shoes and wants to put them on. She also brings us our shoes and wants us to put them on. She is obsessed with shoes....that's my girl!! Currently her favorite word is "No". I don't think she knows what it means though. She just uses it for EVERYTHING. We say "Do you want some cheese?" which is her favorite food and she smiles and says "No". We say "Do you want to watch Barney?", which is her favorite show and she says "No" as she hands me the remote to turn it on. We say "Can I wipe your runny nose?" Her reply is "No" as she points to the box of Kleenex. She tells Bullet "no, no" for no reason. It's really pretty cute!

I also have to say that she has been the best baby and she makes us smile each and every day. What a little blessing! I can't believe how fast our little girl is growing and changing. We adore her!

Sydni-11 Months

Sydni's favorite thing to do now is explore. She LOVES scooting all over the house getting into mischief. I don't think she is going to crawl on her knees. She just scoots everywhere on her bottom and she's fast! She heads straight for Bullet's food and water dishes and dumps them out on the floor. She also likes to hand Bullet her pacifier and throw things at him. Poor Bullet! Also, she has developed a new thing of sticking her tongue out often. I'm surprised her lips and chin aren't chapped. Here are some of her 11 month photos...several of which her tongue is hanging out of her mouth.

This is her scooting position. She was in action taking off across the studio.

Sydni's First Easter

Easter Morning-she's not quite awake yet.

Now she's waking up. She's excited about her new stuffed bunny.

Sydni loves plastic cups! She did not want to put it down, which is why it's in the family photo.
